Daegu is the stop the KTX makes anyway, which is the entire trick: Korea's third city asks no detour, books no tours, and holds one of the country's great markets — twice a day, in two different costumes. Break the Seoul–Busan journey here and the trip gains a city for free.
The shape of the two days
| Day | Theme | Anchor | After dark |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Markets & old centre | Seomun Market, both faces | The night market |
| 2 | The city from above | Apsan cable car | 83 Tower at sunset |
Stops and walking order on the map below. Base in Dongseongno downtown; day 1 never leaves walking distance of it.
The city in one base
Subway: Dongdaegu KTX → Metro Line 1, minutes into the downtown grid
Price: Business hotels downtown run ₩50,000–100,000 most nights (our band)
Dongseongno is Daegu's Myeongdong — the shopping grid, the café scene, and every day-1 stop on foot. Hotels here cost half their Seoul equivalents, which is the quiet theme of the whole city.
Fitting it into the bigger trip
The natural slot is the middle: Seoul first, Daegu for a night or two, Busan after. — and southbound from here, .
